ROSSLARE HARBOUR serves ferries to Cherbourg and Roscoff in France,
and Fishguard and Pembroke Dock in South Wales. There's a tourist office
at the harbour terminal (May-Sept open to meet all sailings except the
6.30am sailing; tel 053/33622), or, especially handy if you are driving,
there's the Rosslare Kilrane tourist office, just over a mile from the
ferry along the N25 (April-Sept daily to meet all sailings, except the
6.30am; Oct-March Tues-Sun restricted opening hours; tel 053/33232).
Ferries aside, there's not much to the place, but if you do need to
stay, St Martin's Road, the village's main street, is dotted with
several decent B&Bs : Ailsa Lodge (tel 053/33230; £40-55/¬50.79-69.84),
Clifford House (tel 053/33226; £33-40/¬41.90-50.79), Oldcourt House (tel
053/33895; £33-40/¬41.90-50.79) and Rock Villa (tel 053/33212;
£26-33/¬33.01-41.90) - all of a similar standard. You'll find an An Óige
hostel nearby in Goulding St (tel 053/33399) where a dorm bed costs
£9/¬11.43 in high season. You can camp for free down in the dunes by the
beach or travel the three miles to Kilrane for The Holiday Inn Caravan
and Camping Park (closed Oct-late May; tel 053/31168).
