KESH , four and a half miles east of Boa Island, is a possible
overnight stop. Accommodation options in the village include the Lough
Erne Hotel , Main St (tel 028/6863 1275; www.lakelands.net/loughernehotel
; £55-70), in a fine riverside setting with a restaurant and weekend
entertainment, while B&B is available at Roscolban House , Enniskillen
Rd (tel 028/6863 1096; £26-33). If you've transport there's also the
option of staying in the Ardess Craft Centre (tel 028/6863 1267;
£40-55), housed in a fine Georgian rectory, which offers day and
residential courses in various crafts (from £25 per day); take the
Enniskillen Road out of Kesh, turn left just before the police barracks,
take a hard right, then follow the road for a mile and a half.
There are a few places to eat in Kesh, including the excellent Riverside
Restaurant , 9 Main St (Tues-Sun 5-9.30pm & Sun lunch; tel 028/6863
2342), serving specialities such as duckling, and, further up the street,
Sarah Jane's Diner and Bakery (Mon-Sat 9am-10.30pm), offering fine,
inexpensive home cooking.
The chief recommendation of Kesh is its position on the lough. You can
rent motor boats here from Mr R.A. Graham, Manville House (tel 028/6863
1668; £25 a day, or £60 if he comes along and shows you the best trout
spots), as well as from Erinona Boats , Boa Island Bridge (tel 028/6863
2328; £40 a day). Drumrush Watersports , Boa Island Rd (tel 028/6863
1578) offers everything from canoeing to jet-ski rental to banana boat
rides; it also has its own guesthouse (£33-40) and offers camping at its
Lakeland Caravan Park . There's also camping available at Loaneden
Caravan Park at Muckross Bay (tel 028/6863 1603) and in Clonelly Forest
(tel 028/6863 1253), three miles north.
